Normanby Hotel Redevelopment, Brisbane, Qld
Engaged by developer to undertake visual impact assessment of proposed 15 level mixed use building adjacent to the heritage listed Normanby Hotel. The assessment included comprehensive analysis of the character, form, and structure of the local area in order to determine the appropriateness of the proposed building in terms of scale and relationship with the hotel.
Tayside Kirra, Qld
Engaged by developer to assess visual impacts and advise on urban design issues for proposed 15 storey development at Kirra. One of over a dozen significant high rise developments assessed on the Gold Coast.
Main Beach Station Landscape Strategy, Qld
Provision of advice on landscape remediation and impact mitigation at the Goldlinq light rail station at Main Beach. Included options analysis for batter and abutment remediation, as well as strategy for headlight glare and other visual impacts. Outcomes were illustrated through development of visualisations showing existing and proposed outcomes.
Hemmant Lytton Neighbourhood Plan Strategies, Brisbane, Qld
Part of GHD engaged to undertake a number of background studies and strategies to inform development of the Hemmant Lytton Neighbourhood Plan. Nick was primarily responsible for undertaking an analysis of built form morphology, a review of best practice case studies, and development of building and streetscape design controls and guidelines.
Natural Area Signage Project, Ipswich, Qld
Part of GHD team involved with natural areas signage project for Ipswich City Council. Involved gap analysis and assessment report of natural areas signage network, including development of new sign layouts (in collaboration with Dot Dash).
Regulated Waste Facilities near Wandoan and Miles, Qld
Engaged by GHD to prepare landscape and visual impact assessment for two regulated waste facilities associated with QGC water treatment plants near Wandoan and Miles.
Carmichael Coal Mine and Rail Project, North Galilee Basin, Qld
Part of GHD team engaged to prepare comprehensive environmental impact analysis of a 60 million tonne per annum (Mtpa) thermal coal mine in the north Galilee Basin. Nick led development of comprehensive landscape and visual impact assessment for the mine, including construction, operation, and rehabilitation stages.
Uriarra Solar Farm, ACT
Part of GHD team engaged to prepare a visual impact assessment for a proposed 11.2 MW solar farm and associated structures and a new 22Kv transmission line in a rural setting west of Canberra.
Northern Road, Camden, NSW
Part of GHD team engaged to prepare environmental impact assessment for detailed design stage of the Northern Road (Stage 2) upgrade project at Camden. The project involves the widening (from 2 to 4 lanes) the existing roadway. Nick prepared a landscape and visual impact assessment following RMS Guidelines to consider impacts on landscape character, features, and viewpoints.
